This guide is kept for the ~Jul 24 studio shoot — the swap methods, size/compression, naming, and editing checklists below are how the real packshots go in.
The methods
Three ways to replace images
Method 1: Theme Editor (Easiest — No Code!)
For: Homepage hero, banners, section images
- Go to your Shopify Admin
- Log in at:
[yourstore].myshopify.com/admin
- Open Theme Editor
- Click "Online Store" in left menu
- Click "Themes"
- Click "Customize" button
- Find the Image Section
- Click on the section with the image you want to change
- Look for "Image" settings in the right panel
- Upload New Image
- Click "Select image"
- Choose "Upload" tab
- Drag your new image or click to browse
- Click "Select"
- Save
- Click "Save" in top right
- Done! Your image is updated
Pro Tip: Keep the theme editor open in one tab while you work
Method 2: Product Images
For: Product page photos
- Go to Products
- Shopify Admin → Products
- Click the product you want to edit
- Scroll to Media Section
- You'll see all current product images
- Add New Images
- Click "Add media" or drag and drop images
- You can upload multiple at once
- Reorder Images
- Drag images to reorder them
- First image = main product thumbnail
- Order matters!
- Remove Old Images
- Hover over image
- Click the trash icon
- Confirm deletion
- Save Product
- Click "Save" in top right

Method 3: Files Library (Best for Organization)
For: Uploading many images at once
- Go to Files
- Shopify Admin → Content → Files
- Upload Images
- Click "Upload files"
- Select multiple images
- Or drag and drop a folder
- Organize
- Images are automatically organized by date
- You can search by filename
- Use in Theme/Products
- When you need an image, it's already uploaded
- Just select it from your library
- No need to upload again

Image prep checklist
Before uploading any image:
Size & Format
- Hero images: 2400 x 1600px
- Product images: 2048 x 2048px (square)
- Lifestyle images: 1600 x 1200px
- Format: Save as JPG (not PNG unless it's your logo)
- File size: Under 500KB per image
Naming
- Use descriptive names:

- Lowercase letters
- Hyphens, not spaces
- Include color/variant in name

Troubleshooting
Image Won't Upload
- File too big? Compress at TinyPNG.com
- Wrong format? Save as JPG (not HEIC from iPhone)
- Image too large? Resize to recommended dimensions
Image Looks Blurry
- Too small? Use higher resolution original
- Over-compressed? Re-export at higher quality
- Wrong aspect ratio? Crop to correct dimensions first

- Did you save? Click save after uploading
