Size Guide Measurement Kit

Ground rules — 5 of them, that's all

• Lay flat, zipped, front up, on a hard surface. Smooth it with your hands; don't stretch it.
• Measure in inches, to the nearest ¼″. I'll convert to cm — the site's chart toggles both units.
• Measure one garment per size. If several of the same size are on hand, pick one that looks median — not the flattest, not the wonkiest.
• Measure twice; if the two reads differ by more than ¼″, take a third and write the middle value.
• Write the size exactly as the garment label states it (if the label says 4T and this sheet says "4–5," write 4T in the margin — label truth wins, and I'll align the chart to it).

How to take each measurement (vests)

Women's Travel Vest (measure Ivory; spot-check one Black in one size — if it differs >¼″, note it)

Fit intent — circle one and add a sentence (this becomes the chart's fit note + PDP fit line)

Runs: true to size / relaxed / oversized · Between sizes: size up / size down · Layers over a sweater: yes / no

The kids chart is keyed by age band + height + chest — so besides the garment numbers, decide the age band each label size is meant to fit (the "fits ages" call is yours; heights I can fill from standard growth ranges once the ages are set).

Fit intent (e.g., "roomy — buy the age, it lasts two seasons")

Hats (Baby / Kids / Adult — measure one of each size; colors should be identical, spot-check one)

Inside circumference: run the tape around the inside of the crown where the head sits. If there's an adjuster (toggle/velcro), measure at its loosest and tightest and write both ("20–22″").

Sunglasses (toddler + infant)

Frame width = the widest outside edge-to-edge across the front. Temple = arm length, hinge to tip.

The body-fit mapping (10 minutes, after the measuring)

The site's chart shows body chest ranges ("M fits chest 38–40″"), not garment numbers. Once the garment measurements exist, the mapping is garment chest minus wearing ease. Simplest honest method: each of you puts on your true size, then the size up, and answers: does your true size fit the way the brand intends? Write what you'd tell a friend:

That plus the garment numbers is enough for me to derive the full body-range columns credibly and set the "between sizes" advice. (These same two lines become the PDP's model_fit note once the on-model shoot happens — "Trevor is 6′1″ and wears an L.")

The photo method — lay it on a grid, let Claude do the measuring

Faster per garment than the tape, and the photos stay measurable forever — when a number nobody wrote down is needed in October, we re-measure the photo, not the basement. Use it for the vests; the tape worksheets above still carry the accessories (circumference and 3-D shapes don't photograph flat) and the two calibration garments below.

Shopping list (~$30 total)

The capture rules (these are what make it accurate)

• Hard floor, even light, no hard shadows across the grid. Kitchen floor at midday or under ceiling lights is fine — this needs no studio.
• Phone at 1× zoom only (never the 0.5× ultrawide — it bends straight lines). Stand directly over the garment, phone flat/level, garment centered, shot from about chest height. If your phone shows a level indicator in the camera app, use it.
• Grid visible on all four sides of the garment — at least a few inches of squares all around. That surrounding grid is what lets the software un-skew the image.
• Fold ridges: the cardboard board has fold lines — lay it so the garment doesn't sit on a ridge; tape the corners down.

Per garment — about 90 seconds each

1. Lay the garment per the same five ground rules up top (flat, zipped, front up, smoothed not stretched).
2. Place dots at the landmarks: both armpit points · both neck-shoulder junctions (HPS) · both shoulder-seam ends · both bottom hem corners — 8 dots.
3. Drop the ruler anywhere flat on the garment.
4. Index card in a corner of the frame with the size ("W-M", "K-4T").
5. One photo. Check it's sharp and the whole board edge-to-garment margin is in frame. Next size.

The whole vest line — every size, both colorways spot-checked — is roughly 20 minutes. Back side too if you have the patience (one flip, one more frame), but the front carries every chart number.

The calibration handshake (don't skip)

Tape-measure two garments fully using Worksheets 1 and 3 — one women's vest, one kids vest — the same pieces you photograph. I derive the photo measurements independently, then check them against your tape numbers. If they agree within ¼″, every other photo is trusted; if not, we find out why before any number touches the site.
