Scope¶
- Makes for us: AMEDEO — Italian cotton-blend fabric, the base for the vest line. Ships Italy → Wintex sewing factory, Jiaxing, Zhejiang (China).
- Confirmed color range for our program: Black 000615, Ivory 002296, Green 009189, Pink 008843 (dull side out).
- Doesn't: sewing, finishing, trim, packaging — fabric mill only.
Commercial terms¶
- Lead time: ~10 weeks on the most recent quote (Pink fabric, quoted May 22, 2026 → arrives ~July 31)
- MOQ: 100M for Olmetex orders. First order was 1,323.50m on PI 61678; the May 2026 reorder is 100M Green ASAP, Pink as soon as available.
- August closure: the mill closes for August (European summer break). Fabric must be in motion before the closure — Pink arriving ~July 31 leaves ~4 weeks before the Sept 1 launch.
- Payment terms: paid in full in advance (single up-front wire, Nov 2024). Unusual — most of our suppliers do 30% deposit / 70% balance.
- Wire routing: direct to Olmetex S.p.A. (Italy). Confirm exact IBAN with Haley before the next wire.
- Incoterms: confirm — likely EXW or FCA (fabric ships from Italy to China-based sewer)
- Currency: EUR
Relationship history¶
- 2024-11: first major fabric vendor on the vest program, sourced via Joanna McQuaid (Cloth Portico, Naples FL). Paid in full in advance for 1,323.50m of AMEDEO (Pro-Forma 61678); drop-shipped Italy → Wintex (China) and sewn into the 342-unit vest run delivered February 2026. - 2026-04: bag line — same AMEDEO palette (Black/Ivory/Green/Pink) — paused due to an AMEDEO fabric shortage at the mill (Haley, Apr 3: "OK pivoting to hats only and putting a pause on the bag concept"). Romi still holds a $6,600 bag deposit pending resolution. The Feb 2026 vest run was unaffected.
- 2026-05-22: new fabric order in motion via Joanna — 100M Green ASAP, Pink as soon as available (10-week lead → arrives ~July 31) — feeding the kids-vest run at Romi (80M per color; "Kids Vests using up the 80 M per color is no problem," Federico via Joanna, May 21).
Open issues¶
- Pink fabric is the launch critical path. 10-week lead quoted May 22, 2026 — Pink needs to ship from Italy by ~July 25 and arrives ~July 31, leaving ~4 weeks to finish kids vests before Sept 1. Any slip endangers launch; build a contingency launch SKU set in case Pink is late.
- August mill closure. Olmetex closes for August (European summer break) — anything not in motion before the closure stalls. Romi needs to finish kids vests, scarves, and eye masks before it hits.
- AMEDEO mill issue (April 2026) — cause identified; bag decision open. The issue was an AMEDEO fabric shortage; it paused/killed the bag line for launch (revive decision is post-launch). The vest program continues on the same source — the May 2026 reorder is already in motion.
- Mill contact confirmation — the ledger names Giulia Gasparotto on the Nov 2024 order; STATE_OF_BUSINESS (May 2026) names George as the direct mill contact. Confirm with Joanna which is current, and get George's last name + email.
- NDA status — need to confirm whether one is on file and where the signed copy lives.
Records & financials¶
The proforma, wire confirmation, and master expense sheet live in the ledger (ledger-claude/) and Drive Administrative/ — the ledger is the single source of truth for amounts and documents; not duplicated here.
Internal notes¶
- "Italian fabric, not just Italian-styled" is one of the brand's actual differentiators — say it in press and on the product page, naming the mill and the town (Como), per the brand voice rules.
- Don't romanticize the relationship internally while the AMEDEO mill issue isn't fully resolved: trust it enough to keep buying, not enough to skip the contingency conversation about an alternative mid-weight cotton-blend if the next sample doesn't come back clean.
