When should Iverywhere launch?¶
Launch day is Tuesday, September 1, 2026 — fixed; the SKU set flexes around it, not the other way around.
Backfilled record — written 2026-07-08
This decision predates the wiki. Reasoning reconstructed from business/MARKETING_PLAN.html, website-design-research/roadmap.html, business/BUSINESS_PLAN_v1.html §9, and business/STATE_OF_BUSINESS.html — not a contemporaneous record. Statements marked inferred are reconstruction, not documented reasoning.
At a glance¶
| Decided | Approx spring 2026 — confirmed to vendors by May 11, 2026 (per State of Business; Haley's vendor pitch already reads "Launching September 1, 2026") |
| Decided by | Trevor + Haley |
| Status | Active. Every plan doc counts down to Sept 1. |
| Owner | Both — Haley owns the production critical path, Trevor the site/launch mechanics |
The question¶
With inventory largely paid for and a pre-launch brand, when does the store open? Too early and the line is incomplete (kids vests depend on fabric not yet landed); too late and the brand misses the season it was built for.
The options considered¶
Inferred — the sources record the constraints that box in the date, not a documented debate among alternative dates.
Option A — Earlier (summer 2026)¶
Opens the funnel sooner. But the supply chain can't support it: Pink Olmetex fabric had a 10-week lead time as of May 22 (arriving ~July 31), and the remaining kids vests need ~4 more weeks of sewing after that.
Option B — September 1, 2026¶
The earliest date the full launch SKU set can plausibly be in hand, landing at the front of the fall travel-planning window.
Option C — Later (holiday 2026 / spring 2027)¶
More slack, but ~$87K of inventory sits idle longer, and the founders' Sydney-trip content arc (March 2026 trip → September launch) goes stale. (Inventory-idle logic inferred from Business Plan §13.4.)
The call¶
September 1, 2026. A Tuesday. Password comes down on Shopify; email blast, Instagram launch post, Pinterest pins.
The reasoning¶
Supply-chain arrival windows set the floor. Olmetex (the fabric mill) closes for August — fabric had to be in motion before then. Pink fabric arrives ~July 31, then ~4 weeks of sewing. September 1 is roughly the first date the whole line can be real.
The fall travel-planning season sets the ceiling. The Marketing Plan ties the calendar to the Aug–Oct trip-planning window (Pinterest's 45–90-day planning lead). Launching September 1 opens the funnel exactly as holiday-travel planning begins.
The date holds; the SKU set flexes. Documented posture throughout: if Pink fabric slips, launch without Pink kids vests; if Romi slips silks, scarves and eye masks become post-launch V1.5 SKUs; if the studio shoot slips, the site launches on graded trip photography. Nothing in the sources contemplates moving the date itself.
What would change our mind¶
- The sources treat Sept 1 as immovable and flex scope instead — the documented "reversal conditions" are SKU-level, not date-level (Pink-late contingency, silks to V1.5, shoot fallback per State of Business §9 and roadmap risks)
- Inferred: a failure that guts the buying path itself (site, payments, or all core inventory) rather than trimming it would be the only real reopen trigger
